Our Church (and hopefully YOUR church soon!)
Westwood United Methodist Church is a loving, vibrant, active, inclusive, and down-to-earth Christian community that seeks to show and share the love of Christ to all. We do this through worship, fellowship, missions, study, service to others, and a host of other ways. There’s not a perfect person among us, but we do our best to love each other and follow the example Christ gave while He walked among us. Come check us out either in person or online!

Our Mission
Our four “mission-critical” values are “Offer Christ, Grow In Faith, Touch Lives, and Make a Difference!” These are more than just maxims we say or print on a t-shirt. We passionately try to live out these values in our daily lives. They center around lifestyle evangelism, personal and corporate discipleship, spiritual growth,  sincere compassion, and positive impact.

About Westwood United Methodist Church

Westwood UMC was founded in 1955 and started in the gymnasium of King Westwood Elementary school. In 1980, WUMC merged with Simpson UMC. Although both Simpson and the original Westwood churches were neighborhood congregations, our present makeup represents our local and wider community in a more vibrant way. joyful and diverse way.

About The United Methodist Church

Westwood UMC is part of the Michigan Conference of The United Methodist Church. The mission of the UMC is to “make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.”  We help accomplish this by proclaing the good news of God’s grace to all. Westwood UMC is an affirming congregation and all members of the LQBTIA+ communities are welcomed and loved here.

About The Building

Handicap Accessibility
Our facility has three main entrances, each marked with a colorful banner. The entrance marked with the PURPLE banner is the one most widely used. It is a level entrance with no stairs. It will get you closest to our church offices and sanctuary. The entrance marked with the YELLOW banner is our elevator entrance. Here you access our multi-person, handicap-friendly bathrooms, as well as all of our building’s levels by a full-size commercial elevator. The entrance marked by a RED banner will lead to a short staircasse to down to Simpson Hall, or up to our main level.

Weather Emergencies

In the event that our unpredicatable Michigan winter weather forces us to cancel our in-person worship, we will notify our news outlets so that it can be posted on local channels. It will also be posted on the front page of our website and Facebook page. During the week, if Kalamazoo Public Schools has a snow day, our office will also be closed.
