Worship Celebrations

Westwood United Methodist Church offers two worship services each Sunday morning. Communion is celebrated the first Sunday of each month during both services.

The first service follows more the traditional United Methodist style of worship service. The mood of the service is more reflective and meditative. This service begins at 8:30 a.m.

The second service is more contemporary in nature. Families will find special messages for children. This service begins at 10:55 a.m. September through May, and at 10:00 a.m. June through August.

Music in Worship

A big part of celebrating God at Westwood is through music. Hymns both traditional and contemporary help focus hearts and minds on Jesus Christ. There are many chances for participation in music groups with varying levels of time commitment.. Anyone interested in finding out more can contact Jane Wright by phone at 269-344-7165 or email jwright-wumc@sbcglobal.net)

Music Groups

Praise Team:  Instrumentalists and vocalists who sing and play by note or by ear are welcome.  Rehearsals are on Sundays at 10:00. Contact, Jane Wright:  jwright-wumc@sbcglobal.net or call 344-7165 ext. 205

Chancel Choir:   This is an adult vocal ensemble (mature high school people are also welcome).  They sing in worship at least twice a month and do approximately two special services each season.  Attendance and commitment are as much as you would like it to be.  Although we would love people to sing with us every time, we realize life doesn’t always make that possible. Rehearsals are Thursdays at 7:00 p.m.   Contact person:  Jane Wright 344-7165 extension 205, email jwright-wumc@sbcglobal.net
Hand Bell Ensembles:  There are a host of these present at Westwood.  Our youngest ringers use the bright colored melody bells, the 2nd though 5th grade (meeting Sundays) use the choir chimes or hand chimes, Junior and Senior High Youth have their own hand bell ensemble that meets Sundays at 5:00 p.m., the Adult and some youth also ring in the Westwood Hand Bell Ensemble rehearsing Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m.  A multiple hand bell quartet called the “Q” meets Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m.  Many options here.  Ensemble leaders vary, but contact: Jane Wright who will get you in contact with the person leading your particular group of interest.   Phone: 344-7165 extension 205, email: jwright-wumc@sbcglobal.net

Small Ensembles:  Instrumentalists and vocalists are called upon for special occasions.  Also, the first Sunday of each month, anyone playing a wind instrument is encouraged to play in the 10:55 a.m. service during the Fall, Winter and Spring months.  Interested?  Call Jane Wright  344-7165 or email:  jwright-wumc@sbcglobal.net and leave your name and area of interest.  We will be sure to contact you.
